David
Lipkind
Music Bio
David Lipkind is a Midwestern musician who started out playing with the
Lawrence, Kansas band, "Monterey Jack". Lipkind provided his unique
harmonica style, along with percussion and vocals to the 6-piece
funk/groove/blues rock band. Two trips to France to play international
music festivals, countless club dates and showcases, including a SXSW
appearance in the realm of harmonica! Lipkind is a Hohner Harmonica
endorsee and sought after session player who has recorded with many
bands and artists, ranging from blues and country to progressive rock
and soul. He writes for "The Harmonica Educator" newsletter and hosted
"The Blue Root Show" on 88.9fm KAW-Lawrence community radio.
David
teaches "Harmonica 1" and "Harmonica 2" at PCC. He plays with a number
of groups and individuals, such as blues guitarist Dave Mullany,
bluegrass rockers "Buds of May", "Jonah Howard and the American Dream",
"Mad Hattie", "Spiggot"; sits in with bands such as "Higher Ground" and
"Everyday Dirt". Lipkind lives in the Portland area and is enthusiastic
and available to teach harmonica to students of all levels.
David gives
great, comprehensive group classes on harmonica every once in awhile.
