Music Bio
I started playing the violin at the age of
two and continued through hight school performing with orchestras and
chamber groups. When I moved to Portland in 1996, I began playing in bands
from rock to contemporary Celtic. One group, Misty River, has become my
focus. Formed in 1997, we draw from traditional bluegrass, folk, country,
old-time and Celtic to mold our own Americana style.
With some simple guidelines taken from
traditional music, I was able to dive into a band situation. I have been
lucky to learn from great teachers such as Laurie Lewis, Jason Carter, and
Marilee Hord, and now I would like to impart what I have learned to others
and let them know how much fun playing the fiddle can be!
In lessons I will focus on good technique,
the key to any style! You can learn traditional fiddle tunes, as well as
group skills, such as how to back up a vocalist and develop your own break.
No experience necessary! Let's play!
